Koko Black Case Study
Alan Wharton, Caulfield Grammar School (Wheelers Hill Campus), has prepared a PowerPoint case study of his visit to Koko Black which is a very useful resource for looking at ideas for small businesses, management qualities and starting up a small business. (March 2007).

Area of Study 2 - Small business decision-making, planning and evaluation

Small Business Activity

Bree Gardner, a student teacher at Pakenham Secondary College in 2007 forwarded a number of resources she prepared for Unit 1 Business Management.

She began with introducing the small business activity that takes place during Unit 1 and then using the Small Business Submission Brainstorm sheet to get students thinking about the type of small business they would like to create and run. Brainstorm Sheet; .doc file or .pdf file

After brainstorming their ideas, students were asked to prepare and submit a Business Submission for teacher approval and sign-off. Business Submission; .doc file or .pdf file

Finally, students were asked to complete small business profile assignment along with marking criteria. This assignment was adapted from work previously prepared by David Telford of Pakenham Secondary College.

Healthy Habits Case Study
Julie Christopoulos has sent in an excellent resource based on an article in The Age which profiles Katherine Sampson, the founder and managing director of the Healthy Habits sandwich bar chain. Thank you Julie! (Sept 2007)
